Ram - Communication key to employment
Ram worked hard to improve his English skills in order to become job ready.
After taking a little while to settle into NOVA Transition’s program in Liverpool, Ram developed his social skills and started making new friends. With this boost of confidence Ram started to believe in himself. As NOVA Employment CEO, Martin Wren says, ‘Great things can happen when we start to believe in ourselves. Often it’s half the battle to achieving our goals.’
After exploring a range of industries through NOVA Transition’s extensive work-experience program, Ram decided he wanted to get an apprenticeship in electrical. While some believed his limited English would be a barrier, he proceeded towards his dream and found an employer within his community who agreed to start a work trial.
The rest is history! Ram got an apprenticeship and is supported by his colleagues and employer to build his communication and English skills, which helps him with his TAFE modules and talking with customers.
If Ram can do it, you can too!
