Tony

Tony has been with NOVA Transition since he completed year 12 in 2005. Transition to Work is a program to help people with intellectual disabilities prepare for working life and meaningful award wage employment. Tony is the first Transition client to be placed in Employment since the program opened two years ago. Nova works under the philosophy and belief that job satisfaction and retention is directly related to an effective ‘match’ between the skills, abilities and interests of the client.

As with any teenage male, Tony had always suggested that working with computer games would be his ‘dream job’. Thanks to Micheal, Matt and Anthony at EB Games, Tony has been able to realise his dream and is now a contributing and effective part of the working team. Jess Burton, Branch Manager, negotiated this placement with the aim of giving Tony an opportunity to be a committed and contributing member of society by inclusion in open employment. The rewards of this placement have been enjoyed by Nova’s staff, Tony’s co-workers and Tony’s parents, all of whom have witnessed the dramatic changes to Tony’s confidence, self-esteem, social interaction and ability.

“EB Games has provided a fun, challenging and nurturing environment for Tony to learn and grow in…The boys at work have welcomed him into their team, and Tony is committed and excited to go to work each day “… Jess Burton, Nova Branch Manager states…. “It has been, and will continue to be, a life changing experience for Tony and his family. Tony is independent, earning money and enjoying his contribution to society. I cannot thank EB Games enough for their community involvement and support in this program….Well Done Tony!”
